WHO: The A-T Children’s Project, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support finding a cure or life-improving therapies for the children’s disease ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) and Tim Borland, an ultra-runner and trainer, have partnered to raise awareness and critically needed research funds for A-T. Both courses will follow the 'Jewel of Sacramento," the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail/American River Parkway. The Marathon will begin at Negro Bar in Folsom and the ultra-marathon will begin at Beals Point in Granite Bay, following the scenic bike trail to Discovery Park at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers. This is the most ideal marathon or ultra-marathon course. No Traffic, No Cars, Beautiful Scenery and a relaxed Environment! Both courses are on the American River Parkway ' an area rich in diversity and wildlife which follows along the American River, which is part of the National Wild and Scenic River System. Both courses lose elevation, and The ultra-Marathon (31.5 miles) has a net loss of approximately 450 feet in elevation over the length of the route (see elevation chart). Both State and County Parks provide excellent facilities along the pathway including water and restrooms (In addition to facilities and aid we provide). Sierra-Cascade Adventure Racing Sports provides scenic courses, well-stocked aid stations, clearly-marked trails and GPS-measured courses. All participants will receive medals, Custom shirts and racer bags, an award ceremony with dinner and raffle giveaways will also follow the event. Solo awards will be given to the top three athletes in 16-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+. The relay includes three divisions: all female, all male, and coed (must have at least one female). Team awards will be given to the top athletes in each category.
