The race starts one hour before the start of the paraded. This allows for all the paraded spectators to enjoy the race. The race starts in front of The fish market (1307 Main St) and heads east along main street ending at the Riverside Athletic Club. The course will have quarter mile marks (1/4) at the Cloths Pin Laundry mat, (1/2) at the Enterprise Car Rental, (3/4) at the Windham House. The race is a relatively flat course with a down hill finish for the last quarter mile. There is a net elevation loss of nearly sixty feet.

Komen Connecticut Race for the Cure at historic Bushnell Park, in Hartford, Connecticut The Komen CT Race for the Cure is part of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series, the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. Since 1993, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Connecticuts funding for statewide programs and Komen international research funding -- together -- have made a stunning $17 million impact on Connecticut over 15 years. Not only has the Komen CT Affiliate made substantive distributions statewide to local breast cancer organizations and programs and to international research, but international research dollars are being funneled back into this state in a big way. Komen for the Cure Connecticut efforts alone are approaching $9 million -- $6.7 million distributed statewide to local breast health organizations and $2.2 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cures international Award and Research Grant Program. At the same time, Yale University, UCONN Health Center, and other organizations are among the institutions that have received more than $8 million from the international Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grants Program, in which the Connecticut Affiliate participates. A new round of statewide awards are announced each spring in Hartford.
