TIMES: Splits are read at the one and two mile marks. Finish times are announced and digitally recorded by overall position. AWARDS: Trophies for First Three Men and First Three Women. The Frankenmuth Jaycees are proud to bring you the 32st annual running of the Volkslдufe. In the spirit of family, friendship, and fitness the Volkslдufe continues to excel as one of the Midwest's finest road races. All Volkslдufe events are held on a certified course, beginning and ending in Heritage Park. Split times are provided throughout the course and aid stations are located at approximately 3k intervals. The fun starts on July 3 at the Volkslдufe Eve Party. Beginning at 5:00pm with runner registration, FREE family entertainment, a spaghetti feast, then topped off with the Jaycee Fireworks display at 10:15pm. Races begin at 8am on July fourth with 4 courses spanning through various parts of the beautifully landscape community, each finishes with a German Umpa-pa band and German style awards. |

Road construction on 14 Mile Road may limit the width to three lanes this year, but will provide a better, smoother surface for future races. WHEN: Registration runs from 7:45am-8:45am on Wednesday July 4, 2007. Race starts at 9:00am. Arrive early, 14 Mile Rd. will close about 8:30am. WHERE: 14 Mile at Crooks“ 2 1/2 miles West of I-75. We are working with The Blue Planet Run on their activities for the Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Lansing areas. The Blue Planet Run, sponsored by The Dow Chemical Company, is the first-ever around the world run to raise funds and awareness for safe water projects around the globe. It kicked off in New York City June 1 and will be in Michigan Aug. 24 and 25. The route in Michigan will take it through Sturgis, Battle Creek, Charlotte and Lansing, then on to Midland, where a major event is scheduled at Dow’s operations. The run is intended to push the issue of safe drinking water into the forefront and mobilize people to act. They aim to raise $25 million in 2007 for water projects around the world. We provide free eye exams and eyeglasses to impoverished people in third world countries such as Honduras, Grenada, and Dominica. To prepare for mission trips each year, the students work over 2000 hours during the school year collecting, sorting and cleaning glasses donated by Lions Clubs, eye doctors and other groups from around the United States. Students must also participate in numerous fund raisers like this 5k race, celebrity servers, shirt fundraisers, etc… to help offset the cost of the trip. The cost is $15 per person.
