June 9-10 2007 TOMRV 105mi +84mi Bettendorf - Dubuque Iowa www.qcbc.org/tomrv/ TOMRV (Tour Of Mississippi River Valley) - A weekend road tour June 9-10 2007, running from Bettendorf, Iowa to Dubuque Iowa and back the next day. 1,500 riders tour each year. The route is varied and challenging - 105 miles on Saturday and 84 miles on Sunday. An optional start has 40 fewer miles each day. Many rest/food stops are along the route, both tour supplied and local. Equipment support is available on the route and at Dubuque. You overnight in college dormitory rooms, tent, or choose a local motel. Your baggage is transported up to Dubuque and back for you. Entertainment is provided in Dubuque on Saturday night. This is our 30th year for the event. Sponsored by the Quad Cities Bicycle Club. Registration opens Feb 12 2007.
9/08/2007 Big Creek Bike Ride 12 miles and 40 miles Polk City Iowa Sandee Overstreet 515-402-5427 http://www.PolkCityChamber.com soverstreet@mchsi.com The 15th annual Big Creek Fall Bike Ride will be held September 8, 2007. The ride is organized by the Polk City Chamber of Commerce with support from the Army Corps of Engineers-Saylorville Lake and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources-Big Creek State Park. Cost of the ride is $25 if registered before September 1, 2007 and includes a long sleeve 15th Anniversary T-Shirt. Registration after September 1st is $30. Two routes begin and end in Polk City. The shorter route, about twelve miles, mainly followed the Neal Smith Bike Trail to Big Creek State Park Beach and back. The longer route, approximately forty miles long also followed the Neal Smith Trail through Big Creek State Park before heading north to Slater and then south toward Ankeny and Saylorville Lake before returning to Polk City. Both rides began at 9 am. This year's ride starts and ends at the American Legion, 114 West Broadway, 1 block east of the Town Square. Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. Free breakfast items will be available for bike riders. Participants registered by September 1, 2007, can pick up their long sleeve 15th Anniversary T-Shirts at Check in. Limited T-Shirts will be available to late registrants; walk ups are always welcomed. The Piranha Brothers start the Post Ride Party at 12 noon at the American Legion.
