White Line Fever 10 Mile Run & Relay
Set For Labor Day, September 4 The 23rd Annual White Line Fever 10-Mile Run & Relay, from Great Bend to Hoisington, will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 4. White Line Fever takes place on a USATF certified course. In addition to the traditional 10-mile run, the race features a relay comprised of four-man teams with each person running 2 ½ miles. Donated prizes by various local businesses, and a trip to Las Vegas, donated by International Tours of Great Bend, will be given away immediately following the race. All run and relay entrants will receive a White Line Fever T-shirt. The race starts at Brit Spaugh Park, in Great Bend, and runners head north along U.S. Highway 281 and end on Hoisington’s Main Street near Second Ave. Medals will be given to finishers in nine race divisions, including age group, wheelchair, college and relay categories. The winning relay team will be awarded a traveling trophy with the opportunity to defend its title the following year. Plaques will also be awarded to the individual overall winners in the respective male and female categories. Runners can mail their entry form and a $12 per individual or $48 per relay team registration fee to: Barton Track/White Line Fever, Barton County Community College, 245 NE 30th Road, Great Bend, KS 67530. Late entry participants pay $15 per individual or $60 per relay team after the Aug. 25 deadline. Entry forms will be available at all sponsorship locations. Applicants may also call the Barton County Athletic Office at 792-9377 to receive entry forms. All entrants, including walk-in registrants, can pick up packets between 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. the day of the race at the Brit Spaugh Park North Shelter, located near N. Main, Great Bend. Proceeds from the run go toward scholarships and funding of Barton’s track and field program.
