Starting at an elevation of 4,500 feet, the Morenci Parks and Recreation Department challenges you to run UP the Coronado Trail. While you run enjoy rare views of the open pit mine, large mining equipment, big horn sheep and other wildlife within the vast wilderness that are a common sight for the Morenci area. Run, walk, or jog our half marathon, 7-mile, 5K, or 1-mile course. These loop runs kick off at 0800 with a staggered start. Cost is $25 per person and all ages are welcomed. Sign-up by 25 January to secure your spot and avoid a $5 late charge. |

With its isolation there is a tremendous amount of flora and fauna, a perfect setting for our trail run. You will be running on primitive trails that are primarily used by equestrians and wildlife. The route will take you down through sandy washes, up and over hills and down them too, over loose rock and stiff ones and yes, cactus as well, so don't forget your comb and tweezers. You will go through an amazing saguaro stand and have breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The 5k and 10k are NOT for 1st timers. |
