The 5K Course is the same used for the past several years. It is a fast course with two very small hills that begins at the Jefferson Village School in Jefferson Village on Route 126. Pre-registration Packet pick-up is available at the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance on August 29th from 9AM-4PM. 5K Race Description The race is an Official, Timed, 5K (3.1 Mile) Road Race on a Safe, Rolling, Out-and-Back Course. It begins at the northern end of Point Road at the Camp Runoia entrance. $15 Entry Fee includes Official Times, Good Food, Great Prizes, and T-shirt for those who register by August 22. AQUAFEST benefits the BRCA Lake Trust, a collaboration of the five lake associations; Belgrade Lakes Association, East Pond Association, North Pond Association, McGrath Pond/Salmon Lake Association, and the Snow Pond/Messalonskee Lake Association. The entry fee is $15 for the 5K pre-registration and $18 on race day. The first 100 pre-registered runners receive a shirt if registered before August 22nd. Awards go to the top three overall male and female finishers, and the top three in six age groups. |

Crocker Memorial 5K Run / Walk 5K Cottrell Road, Dixmont ME Don Pendleton 234-2243 swancreek@uninets.net The Dixmont Scholarship Association will hold the 2nd Annual Gary S. Crocker Memorial 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, September 14th, which will benefit the Association’s scholarship fund. The race is held in honor of Gary S. Crocker, a community member and strong supporter of local agriculture and farming, who passed away last summer. Registration begins at 8:00 am, and race time is 9:00 am sharp on the Cottrell Road in Dixmont. The 5K event will issue prizes to the top 3 places in the men’s and women’s divisions. The cost to participate is $10 for adults, $5 for youths, and each registrant will receive a commemorative t-shirt. The Association and race committee are also looking for sponsors for the race t-shirts. Gold ($100), Silver ($50) and Bronze ($20) categories are available and sponsors will have their businesses featured on the backs of the shirts. The Dixmont Scholarship Association awards scholarships annually to Dixmont high school seniors. Directions – enter Cottrell Road from Rte 143 (Simpson Corner Rd), about 1.5 miles north of the intersection of Rtes. 9 and 143. Follow Cottrell Rd. down to the bend, where the registration table and start of the race will be located. The race will be held rain or shine! |

Log your minutes anywhere you walk from September 20, 2008 - November 1, 2008. The goal is 1050 minutes. 30 minutes a day for 35 days is 1050 minutes. The Walkathon Kick Off will be Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 1:00 pm. at the Canine Carnival at the Woodlawn Museum Ellsworth, Maine. The Canine Carnival will be from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Gift Certificates will be awarded to the participants who walk the most minutes and to a person chosen from a drawing from all the participants who complete 1050 minutes. There is a $10.00 registration fee. All proceeds from the Walkathon will go towards the Downeast Dog Scouts Community Service Projects and Community Education Programs Everyone can participate in walking with or without a dog. Encourage family, neighbors, children, friends and co-workers to get involved by registering for the Walkathon. The Walkathon will allow the Scouts to expand their projects, so get walking to help out the Scouts! The Downeast Dog Scouts will sponsor a Clean Up Day as a Finish Celebration on Saturday, November 1, 2008, Take Pride in Acadia Day. Participants will be cleaning up after less responsible dog guardians at Little Long Pond, Seal Harbor, Maine from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon or organize a clean up day in your neighborhood on November 1, 2008. |
